As they were building their automotive shop business in Anchorage, Alaska, Richard and Desiree Hale weren’t focused on selling race fuel but did find a need to fuel his myriad racing habits – from drag racing and snowmobiles to off road endurance races.  After testing a variety of fuels in 2009 with their chassis dyno, they saw more proven power and performance from VP fuels in every application.  As they piled up wins and podium finishes, others noticed and requested his help in securing race fuels for their rides, not always an easy task in the more remote areas of Alaska.  Thus began a modest distribution business that is now on the cusp of exploding.

“We have just contracted space in a 48,000 sq. ft. warehouse to stock larger quantities of VP products exclusively,” said Hale, President of Hale’s Technical Services.  “We started selling just race fuel and have seen steady growth every year, but since taking on VP’s full line of Consumer Products last year, we’ve seen a 200% increase in sales with most of that growth coming from VP Small Engine Fuels and Lubricants, Madditives® and Motorsport Containers®.  We anticipate similar increases next year.”

Knowing the best way to sell any product is to educate the customer on its benefits, Richard has made a concerted effort to train his dealers and retail customers on the features and benefits of VP products.  The Hales have also cultivated a relationship wherein they’ll be supplying an additional 27 privately owned and corporate NAPA stores throughout the state.  Even with all that, they’re excited about further growth prospects with VP’s Consumer Products. “This is big diesel country so VP’s Diesel All-in-One sells well and with all the outdoor power equipment used here, VP’s 2-cycle oil and other small engine products are also big sellers.  These products open up many more venues for distribution like hardware stores, parts stores, Mom & Pop shops…and many of these will lead to race fuel sales as well.”

“The VP brand helps our sales efforts in a big way.  Customers know they make the best race fuel on the planet and know they can count on the same quality in VP’s other products.”

Richard’s hard work and enthusiasm are much appreciated and we’re happy to have him on Team VP!

Industry Leaders Leverage Synergies to Reach Engine Builders

SuperFlow Technologies Group announced an extension of its agreement with VP Racing Fuels whereby SuperFlow factory technicians test all new engine dynamometers prior to shipment exclusively with VP’s C12 racing fuel. “The partnership with VP is very exciting because although we sell very different products, our goal is the same—to produce repeatable products with optimum performance,” said Scott Giles, CEO of SuperFlow.  “For us, it’s all about repeatability, which means controlling variables.  We know that each barrel of C12 that goes into our test engines is going to perform exactly like the last.”

“In addition to consistency, VP’s fuels have a well-earned reputation for power and performance while SuperFlow is recognized as one of the leading manufacturers of dynamometers and flow benches in the country,” said Donato Bonaquisto, VP’s Director of Marketing.  “With SuperFlow’s endorsement, engine builders among its customers will be reminded that the combination of SuperFlow equipment and VP Racing Fuels will yield not only the most consistent data, but also the optimum performance that can be achieved with an engine.”

SuperFlow’s Dirt Late Model Team will also exclusively use C12 to ensure maximum power and consistent performance. “We’ve had troubles with other fuels in the past gumming up our carburetors and providing inconsistent power,” explained Mike Giles, SuperFlow’s Marketing Manager. “Our in-house testing on both the engine and chassis dynamometers with C12 in both of our cars produced more power, but most importantly the power was there consistently across our entire test procedure from multiple barrels of fuel.”

Quick Lube Facilities to Complement Retail Branding Program

This past April, VP Racing Fuels launched VP FASTLUBE™, a quick lube concept that will complement VP’s fast-growing retail branding program for gas stations and convenience stores.  While stand-alone facilities are the primary focus of VP’s FASTLUBE program, others will be incorporated in VP-branded stations.  In a related development, VP recently introduced VP Racing and Hi-Performance Lubricants, as well as a long-term trademark license agreement with Maverick Performance Products, LLC to market, manufacture and sell VP-branded lubricants in the U.S., Canada and Mexico.  Maverick will service VP FASTLUBE facilities with both bulk and packaged VP-branded lubricants.

“Following our successful rollout of VP Racing Fuels-branded gas stations, introduction of VP Lubricants and Maverick license agreement, the VP FASTLUBE program emerged as a natural extension and allows us to tap into the $14 billion quick lube market,” said Chris Wall, Chief Marketing Officer for VP Racing Fuels.  “Like our retail branding program, VP FASTLUBE offers an attractive image, a credit card program with one of the lowest rates in the industry and a preferred supplier program, as well as substantial savings on bulk oils for higher profits.  FASTLUBE licensees will benefit from VP’s brand recognition among performance enthusiasts and the increasing brand awareness generated by VP branded gas stations.”

In addition, VP provides low rate financing for ground up, conversions, rebranding, SBA lending and equipment financing through its preferred lender, Allied Brand Capital (ABC).  “Beyond financing, ABC does a great job of working with clients to help them tackle their business challenges and growth needs,” said Wall.
