VP Racing Fuels Partners with StayWet® to Promote Track Conditioner

Eco-Friendly Formula Improves Dirt Track Performance, Suppresses Dust, Reduces Cost

SAN ANTONIO, TX (December 10, 2015) - VP Racing Fuels today announced an agreement with Dane Miller, developer of StayWet®, to produce, market and distribute a revolutionary track conditioning product with the potential to transform dirt track racing. As part of the agreement, Miller will license use of the product name and formula to VP and will be employed by VP for two years to help introduce and promote the product as well as train VP personnel.

According to Miller, the mission of StayWet® track conditioner is “all about the show and improving the experience of drivers and spectators alike.” The mission is accomplished through improved soil compaction, soil adhesion and reduced dust. By improving cohesion of the soil molecules to keep them more compactly grouped and resistant to shearing, StayWet prevents holes and ruts from forming on the track. StayWet’s enhanced adhesion serves to make the track surface sticky so tires can grip the racing surface better. The net effect is a quantum improvement in track performance.

“With better traction and less slippage, drivers can increase their speed through turns, dive deeper into corners and not be restricted to following a single groove,” said Miller. “As an example, after applying StayWet, Millard County Raceway in Delta, Utah was transformed from a single-groove to a multi-groove track offering more exciting race programs while improving its track record by nearly a full second! Similarly, Cherokee Speedway used StayWet to set 13 new track records this year, in each division that ran there.”

Beyond better quality racing, the biggest value of StayWet is the suppression of dust. “Any dirt track fan knows how unpleasant high dust levels can make the experience for spectators. It can be especially detrimental to those with respiratory problems and it compromises drivers’ visibility and health as well,” Miller continued. “StayWet will substantially reduce the dust level at any track that properly applies it, and in many cases will eliminate dust altogether. A good example is Modoc Speedway in Clarks Hill, South Carolina which was able to reduce its dust by 50%.”

According to James “Bigg Redd” Griffin, owner of Screven Motorsports Complex in Sylvania, GA, there are operational savings to be gained by using StayWet. “We’ve seen substantial reductions in water consumption, fuel, labor and equipment maintenance.”

“Throughout its history, VP has been known for world-leading technology and best-in-class products, including our Lane Choice traction compound for asphalt tracks,” said Alan Cerwick, President of VP Racing Fuels. “When we saw the technology behind StayWet and the benefit it offers to the racing community, it became quickly apparent it’s a perfect fit with VP’s product portfolio. The fact that it’s a ‘green’ product -- nonhazardous and biodegradable – made it all the more appealing. We look forward to working with Dane to promote StayWet, build the customer base and improve the experience of dirt track race fans and drivers across the U.S.”

VP also intends to promote a second soil treatment product formulated for road construction, cement plant and landfill applications. While keeping dust controlled, this version also keeps ground packed for a longer duration for heavy equipment mobility.
