San Antonio, TX (October 16, 2024) – VP Racing Fuels, Inc., the global leader in performance fuels, lubricants, and additives, and Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta provided an update today on their hurricane relief programs from this past weekend during Petit Le Mans. Amidst the excitement of IMSA's world-class racing and the dedication of the world's largest VP Mad Scientist® bobblehead, generous fans of racing came through for hurricane victims in need.
"Last week, VP Racing and its employees began delivering our much-needed small engine fuel and containers to first responders and victims of the hurricanes that have ravaged so many," said Alan Cerwick, President & CEO of VP Racing. "Working with Samaritan's Purse®, we increased our efforts over the weekend, collecting money donations for the humanitarian organization's relief effort outreach at Michelin Raceway and online, and we will continue."
Alan Cerwick, President & CEO of VP Racing with Rick Humphrey, President & General Manager of Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta, join together to dedicate the Mad Scientist 17' bobblehead and launch their efforts to aid hurricane victims.
During the Petit Le Mans weekend, VP Racing collected cash donations from race fans at its display in the Michelin Raceway Fan Zone and online through a dedicated QR code. While we are delighted with the Petit Le Mans fans' generous donations received over the weekend, many still suffer and remain in great need of our help. Michelin Raceway showcased Petit Le Mans race fans' generosity over the weekend, collecting a broad range of household goods and personal care items donations at the information tents throughout the track grounds. These items will be immediately distributed to those in need.
“Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta is heartbroken by the devastation of the two hurricanes in our region, including right here in Georgia,” said Rick Humphrey, President and General Manager of Michelin Raceway. “We wanted to do our part to relieve the human burden these storms have had on our community, and the race fans at Petit Le Mans this past weekend were there to support our neighbors.”
Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta has made an indelible, global impression on the world of racing. Following its inaugural race in 1970, the track has grown to host some of the most storied races in several circuits, including Drift Atlanta, The HSR Mitty, and, of course, the premier Petit Le Mans.
The Mad Scientist bobblehead is 17 feet tall, making it taller than the current world record book holder, but VP prefers to leave the records to the racers who use its world-class fuels around the globe.
